Abstract
Use rates for smoked and smokeless tobacco are rising more quickly among Native American people than among the general population. Effective preventive interventions must target variables specific to ethnic-racial cultures. This article reports findings from a culturally sensitive intervention to reduce tobacco use among Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest that used classrooms and communities as natural groups. Despite few significant results, a number of trends in the data have implications for future research .
