Abstract
Objective: To assess the psychometric properties of a Spanish-language version of the Client Satisfaction Inventory (CSIS), including both long and short forms. Method: Reliability and validity were examined using results from 244 clients in six agencies. Further tests of the short form were completed on 62 clients from three agencies. Results: Findings indicate that the same items comprising the short-form English-language version can be used as a short-form of the Spanish version, that both versions have factor structures comparable to their English-language counterparts, and both have high internal consistency. Evidence of good content and criterion validity for each version was also obtained, though total scores on both versions correlated moderately with measures of depression and anxiety. Conclusions: Both forms appear to have acceptable measurement characteristics and perform similarly to English-language versions, except for the question of whether they measure satisfaction independently of mood states. This and possible effects of cultural differences on assessing service satisfaction are discussed.
