Abstract
Measurements have been made continuously over a period of two years, of heat loss through the solid ground floor slab of a small test house at the Cement and Concrete Association. The heat loss was found to be about one half of that determined using accepted calculation procedures. In addition, contrary to general belief, it was not found that heat losses from the floor perimeter predominate over those from the central area. It is suggested that it may be necessary to make changes to the current procedures for calculating the heat loss through solid concrete ground floor slabs.
