Abstract
A review of the literature on teacher beliefs in the ERIC database reveals studies on the develop ment of beliefs about teaching in preservice and inservice teachers; data on contrasts of the beliefs of student teachers and experienced classroom teachers; analyses of factors and programs which bring about changes (desired or forced by circumstances) in teachers' beliefs; and discussion of the effects of teachers' beliefs about the subjects they teach on their effectiveness in the classroom. Ar ticles and ERIC Documents in the following bibliography were selected to provide examples of the wide range of information available in the database on teacher beliefs.
