Abstract
The processes of curriculum policymak ing and program development in teacher education are outlined by Short. A series of tasks and decisions related to these processes are derived from re search and practice in the field of curric ulum studies and are described in the context of teacher education. The signifi cance of design criteria and the use of a unifying concept or theme in curricu lum planning in teacher education are explored.
