Abstract
Knitting technology has advanced considerably during the past two decades with the introduction of various knitted structures, use of new and modified yarns, and design of versatile knitting equipment. The successful use of the yarns on knitting machines depends on some of the yarn characteristics and the proper selection of knitting process parameters. It appears possible to use some of these yarn properties and the range of working conditions on the knitting machines to assess the knitting performance of the yarns and use this as an index of knittability.
