Abstract
For assessing jute yarn tenacity, the time-consuming, conventional, single-thread testing method was compared with the lea tenacity, bundle tenacity, and ballistic quality ratios for capsularis, olitorius, and mesta fibers. These strength parameters are very closely related. Hence any of these measures may be used for the determination of yarn tenacity. However, for routine work lea testing has the advantage of being very rapid. Conversion factors connecting lea tenacity and single-thread tenacity were obtained. These strength parameters were also compared at different yarn numbers and relative humidity.
