Abstract
Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) slit film yarn, which was crystalline and par tially oriented, was first given a 100% stretch at temperatures between 90 and 180°C. These drawn yarns were then textured on a spindle false twist texturing machine under standard conditions, and the textured samples were heat-set in hot water. The post-textured heat-set yarn samples showed good crimp retraction characteristics. The characteristics of the feeder yarn, which govern the properties of the textured yarn, are highlighted. The yarn drawn at 130°C has the lowest crystallinity and, when textured, gives optimum properties.
