Abstract
Ten statistics of distribution of fiber diameter are calculated for 41 commercial wool tops after measurement with the CSIRO Fiber Fineness Distribution Analyser. The range of each statistic likely to be encountered in practice is found, and an experimental estimate of the precision is made. Using three deviant tops for com parison, there is no reason at present to go beyond the well known second-order statistics of standard deviation or coefficient of variation.
