Abstract
The wettability or the surface tension of wool fibers is dependent on the epicuticle. There are close relationships between friction, rate of diffusion of dyes and acids, and surface tension. The surface properties of the fiber can be changed without removing the epicuticle. Such change is thought to be due to an alteration of the molecular structure of the epicuticle.
