Abstract
Certain functions involving fiber length, fineness, tenacity, and uniformity of length have been developed from scientific considerations for estimating the yarn tenacity of yarns spun under standard processing techniques. The efficiency of these functions in this regard has been compared with that exhibited by the corresponding regression equations involving the fiber properties. It has been found that the efficiency is practically the same in both cases. Hence it is concluded that these simple functions could conveniently be employed for assessing the quality of cotton.
