Abstract
Chemical treatments affecting fiber properties that influence cotton processing efficiency arc discussed. A broad range of chemical treatments and various methods of applying them to precleaned cotton are covered. Increases in fiber friction improve fiber parallelization and reduced roving twist requirements, but are detrimental to carding performance and yarn properties. Reduction in friction improves spinning efficiency.
