Abstract
Properties of fabrics woven from regular warp yarns and filling yarns with periodic mass variation are studied in terms of weavability limit parameters. Four variables are varied systematically and their relationships with fabric properties investigated. These are pick density, probability of overlap p (the ratio of double the thick place length of filling yam to the wave length), yarn balance β' (the ratio of the thick place diameter of the filling yam to the warp yarn diameter), and weave design. Statistical analyses (regression, general linear model, TUKEY, and REGWQ multiple comparison, and analysis of variance) demonstrate that the four weavability limit parameters sig nificantly influence the fabric properties investigated. The study shows that fancy fabrics from yams with mass variation can be constructed to meet predetermined properties.
