Abstract
This study deals with the effect of tuft size and its variation on lap uniformity, carding quality, and yarn properties. Three different types of tufts (small, big, and blend) have been covered in 40s, 80s, and 30s counts from suitable cottons and staple fiber. Results of this study show that, while opening the cotton in opening room, it is essential to ensure that the tufts are made into small and uniform size for producing even laps and better-quality yarns. Higher variation in tuft properties may affect count and strength variation significantly.
