Abstract

The concentration distribution of a disperse dye in multiple porous membranes has been investigated. The increased surface concentration with dyeing time is attrib utable to the resistance to dye transport across the diffusional boundary layer. The apparent diffusion coefficient and the thickness of diffusional boundary layer are es timated in such a way that the experimental data fit with the theoretical curve of concentration distribution based on the diffusional boundary layer model. The pore model is applied to explain diffusion behavior in the porous membrane assembly.
