A Wool/Cotton Blend Fabric Made with Scoured Wool Processed Through the Carding Cleaner

Abstract

A suiting material was woven from a 50/50 wool/cotton blend made from combed cotton and scoured wool fibers. The scoured wool was cleaned and shortened using the carding cleaner developed at the Southern Regional Research Center. A small amount of vegetable matter present in the greige fabric was removed in dyeing and finishing. Mechanical processing procedures of the blend are outlined and discussed, and other pertinent fabric properties are also presented.
