Abstract
In this paper, I present a study of the spherical elongation of fabrics under cyclic stresses on those parts of a garment that are most exposed to stress, the elbow and the knee. For this purpose, I have developed a new modified apparatus and a new method for testing the spherical deformation of fabric. In addition, I develop an algorithm for calculating deformation and from the results, I use it to calculate the elongation of warp and weft yams in the samples, thus determining the limits of stress a yarn can take. In this paper, I describe the algorithm as well as the theoretical assumptions from which it is derived.
