Abstract
The age, sex, and ethnicity of the U. S. work force is changing. Organizations are implementing a variety of strategies to recruit, integrate and manage the new workforce and to better harness the potential of all employees. This article examines the processes employed by private companies to develop diversity, compares them with a public initiative, explores the lessons learned, and discusses the implications for public personnel managers.
