Abstract
The author describes the method and technique used for augmenting the breast through autograft of fat obtained from liposuction. Care should be taken in the collection, preparation, and use of the aspirate in order to preserve the adipocytes' vitality. Thirty-one cases are presented with good results and few complications. Two complications that may occur are resorption, which can be reduced through knowledge of the proper technique, and microcalcifications, which, according to some researchers, may confuse the radiologic diagnosis of mammary carcinoma. The author does not agree. The method is a good alternative to augmentation mammaplasty with prosthesis. Although the method is innocuous, beginners should exercise caution.
