Abstract
The history of the development of compression sclerotherapy (CS) is described, together with the presently widely used technique, its complications, and its contraindications. The analysis of 1000 patients seen during a 15-month period is described. Compression sclerotherapy was used alone on 343 patients and 20 patients had high ligation of the great saphenous before injection. There was no mortality and there were no significant complications.
