Abstract
This summary of the “frontal forelock concept” is intended to clarify its role in modern hair replacement surgery. It is proposed that it is the most natural and expedient manner for transplantation in the man with severe baldness and greatly reduced donor supplies. It is moreover recommended for the younger man who is judged likely to progress to an advanced baldness stage. For the younger man, the anticipatory forelock pattern can be either in isolated form or connected to the side fringes, but it acts as part of a template for future conversion into an isolated forelock. In this article, the background and history of the forelock concept are related, definitions for the terms used relating to the forelock are clarified, six categories of suitable candidates for this procedure are proposed, and six overall benefits resulting from the use of this design are listed.
