Abstract
Airway obstruction in the child with infectious mononucleosis is a rare but extremely serious complication. Tracheostomy, tonsillectomy, and corticosteroids have been used in the management of this problem. We propose a conservative but successful regimen of intravenous hydration, corticosteroid therapy, and placement of a nasopharyngeal airway to deal with this problem.
