Abstract
Teas were conducted measuring the deformations of composite open cylindrical shells subjected to temperature changes. The cylindrical shells were made of 16 plies of Fiberite T300/934 unidirectional graphite-epoxy tape arranged as cither [02/902]2, or [902/02)2,. The measured deformations were compared to the results of a higher order shell theory. It is shown that terms representing extensional strain in the thickness direction must be considered for the analysis to represent the data accurately.
