Abstract
Comments have been made on the high proportion of male teachers in the Australian teaching workforce in contrast to many other parts of the world. This paper presents evidence which suggests that this phenomenon may not last for very much longer. Suggestions are also made as to possible implications, both of an administrative nature and in relation to the development of social values, of such changes in the structure of the Australian teaching workforce.
