Abstract

The clinical phenomenon of deafness and cerebral palsy is investigated based on a study of 69 cases. Data on intelligence, psychological adjustment, educational achievement, communication skills, physical disabilities, audiometric patterns, etiological factors, and prevalence are reported. From this information steps for prevention and habilitation are developed. The future epidemiology of the condition is projected based on an integration of the research findings and on current medical advances in the treatment and prevention of complications of Rh factor, rubella, and meningitis.
