Abstract
Research in learning and retention was examined in an effort to extract possible implications and practices which teachers might employ with retarded children to improve their attention and/or ability to retain information. Special emphasis was given to methods of holding attention, mediation of information, and the value of overlearning. The presence of a short term memory deficit is noted and methods are suggested for dealing with this.
