Abstract
Self-control procedures have recently been applied in numerous settings to a number of learning and behavior problems. Treatment of acting-out and aggressive behaviors, an area that is a major concern to teachers, has been investigated by researchers using self-control or cognitive-behavioral interventions. Although isolated studies have produced encouraging results, current self-control techniques have not demonstrated effective control over aggressive behaviors. A critique of the techniques, studies, and research methodology is also included.
