Spelling for the visually impaired child

Abstract

The teaching of spelling to children with special needs has long been a cause for concern. How can these children be taught to become proficient spellers? This article describes some of the particular difficulties of visually impaired and blind children and considers a whole-school approach which incorporates old techniques and new ideas.
