Abstract
The use of guide dogs by people with visual impairment is relatively new in many Asian societies. The case study research explores the mobility experience of a guide dog team (a person with visual impairment and a guide dog) in Singapore. Emergent themes of adaptation, knowledge, symbiosis, advocacy, and agency, with overarching themes of functional-instrumental and symbolic-expressive were identified. The study identified themes and issues surrounding the use of guide dogs in the Singapore context.
