Abstract
This Paper reviews a selection of literature in relation to an ongoing research study concerned with the identification and analysis of haptic exploratory strategies in children who are blind with multiple disabilities functioning at an early stage of development. The study is concerned with how a sample of children in the population use their hands to assess particular properties of objects and considers possible intervention approaches which may offer more efficient strategies for processing tactile information. The Paper concludes with a summary of anticipated outcomes of the research study.
