Abstract
The role of visual training in correcting reading disability is a controversial one. Few controlled studies have appeared in the literature and a great deal of semantic obscurity clouds the issue. Communication among professional workers is critically needed in this field. At he present time, ophthalmologists and optometrists too often og their separate ways, each profession refussing to admit that the other has something worthwhile to offer the disabled reader. Suggestions are given which may alleviate some of the problems that currently exist in this area.
