Abstract
Some previous researchers found an association between job satisfaction and family status, with married parents expressing the most job satisfaction and single adults expressing the least. The present study used secondary analyses of NORC national probability data to test the generalizability of the earlier findings. We found that married men and women across the nation do infact claim to like their jobs more than single people do. The quality of the marriage has little apparent effect.
