1. Paul Reinecke (1872–1958), German prehistorian who studied under Rudolf Virchow (1821–1902), Johannes Ranke (1836–1916) and Adolf Furtwängler (1853–1907). He worked as assistant at the Central Museum of Germano-Roman archaeology (Römisch-Germanischen Zentralmuseum, RGZM) in Mainz (1897–1908) and then (1908–1937) as Chief Curator of the Department of Monuments of Bavaria (Denkmale des Königreichs Bayern). He was also appointed ‘königliche Professor’ in 1917 at the University of Munich He established the relative chronologies of the Bronze and Iron Ages still in use today.
