Abstract
Poststructural theory contends that the patterns and ways of talking and using language (discursive practices) create the social structures, meanings, and relations that ultimately construct people's everyday lives. This article discusses the relevance of poststructural ideas for family nursing. The influence of language and discourse on the thinking and practices within family nursing is discussed, and the significance of language in transforming the isomorphic patterns offamily nursing is highlighted.
