Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability and concurrent validity of the short form (Form B) of Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory. The subjects were 140 children from seven classes in fourth through seventh grades. The criterion measures for validity included sociometric questions, teachers' rankings for popularity, and teachers' ratings for self-esteem. It was found that the test-retest reliability coefficients over a two-month period for the seven classes ranged from .72 to .85, all indices being significant at the .01 level. Eleven out of 24 validity coefficients with the criterion measures were statistically significant.
