Abstract
This study predicted and demonstrated high positive correlations between repressor-sensitization, self-image disparity and mental health. Sensitization was highly correlated with mental illness (.78), and self-image disparity (.61) in a population of 77 normal adults. Analysis of the individual scales indicated that the high correlations were caused mainly by actual self ratings. Results are discussed in terms of the relationship between self-concept and mental health.
