Abstract
In this commentary, I engage with the recent dialogue on Sidaway's article, ‘Beyond the Decolonial: Critical Muslim Geographies’. In particular, I highlight four points that he makes about how to advance critical Muslim geographies within critical geography – including drawing directly from Islamic thought, critiquing formative thinkers of critical geography, connecting with Black geographies, and interfacing with area studies. I then shift to discuss why this is a challenging project, but one that is full of potential.
