Abstract
Chaos theory provides a metaphor for complex and unpredictable yet patterned change in organizations. Modeling transformation, organizations become systems in constant flux with periods of temporary stability. Treating stability as unusual forces examination of the boundaries of stability and what creates conditions for change. Implications for cultural models and organization theory are discussed.
