Abstract
This paper describes the interrelations among (a) power, alpha, effect size, and sample size for hypothesis testing and (b) precision, confidence, and sample size for interval estimation. Implications for special education researchers working with convenient samples of fixed size are considered, and the logic underlying subsequent decisions about power, alpha, and effect size and about precision and confidence is explored. Examples are drawn from special education literature.
