Abstract
Polyvinyl acetate latex was loaded with various amounts of polyaniline (Pani) dispersion, viz., 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10% dry weight by weight. The elemental analysis of the blends revealed that the nitrogen content increased with increase in the Pani. The UV-visible spectrum of PVAc/Pani (96/4) showed a compact coil confirmation. A series of composites were fabricated by impregnating the needle punched polyester nonwoven fabric in polyaniline (Pani) filled polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) latex. The effect of different amounts of Pani on the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, percentage elongation, hardness, and burst strength have been studied. The electrical properties such as conductivity, dielectric constant, and dissipation factor of the composites found to increase with increase in the Pani content. The dielectric properties of the composites have been investigated as a function of frequency and Pani content. The effects of temperature on the electrical conductivity of the composites have been studied.
