Effect of the process parameters of liquid–solid cast-rolling on the microstructure and properties of 1070A/7075 composite sheets

Abstract

The effects of casting temperature and cast-rolling speed on the microstructure and properties of the composite interface of 1070A/7075 aluminium alloy composite sheet were studied. The results showed that under the same process conditions, the diffusion distances of the Mg element and the Cu element were the greatest and smallest, while that of the Zn element was found between the diffusion distances of the two elements. Furthermore, the intermetallic compound Al23CuFe4 generated at the interface greatly affected the bonding and tensile properties of the composite sheet. When the casting temperature was 690 °C, the cast-rolling speed was 12 m/min. The shear strength, tensile strength, yield strength and elongation were determined as 86.2, 173.9 and 108.6 MPa and 24.9%, respectively.
