Abstract
Objectives: To describe the structural and functional components of a new State-based initiative addressing depressive disorders, the Black Dog Institute. Method: Institute components and objectives, together with background information on the ‘Black Dog’ concept, are described. Conclusions: It is hoped that this briefing will inform readers about current objectives.
