Abstract
This paper describes an interactive multimedia simulator for bomb threat training that was de veloped in Authorware 4.0. The objective of this project is to improve the nation's capability to respond to bomb threats. The simulator provides realistic training on receiving and responding to a variety of bomb threats that might not other wise be possible due to time, cost, or operational constraints. The use of the simulator was found to be statistically significantly more effective than both classroom training alone and class room training with a practical exercise. Qualita tive feedback indicates that the simulator makes learning about bomb threats more interesting and effective. The development of this project was funded under a grant from the Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice, Office of Science and Technology.
