Abstract
This paper describes the features needed in a simula tion language to model a network with sparse traffic. GPSS does not provide two necessary features, inter process communication and list processing, in con venient forms. SIMULA's built-in list-handling features and its powerful class construct can be used to model such a traffic network conveniently. The differences between the languages are illustrated by modelling a road network in two versions of GPSS and one of SIMULA.
