Abstract
A new three-dimensional model of tumor growth and treatment includes (1) models of the life cycles of normal cells and tumor cells, (2) cell-cell interaction and production rules, and (3) algorithms that account for different avenues of tumor treat ment. Illustrative examples show the simulation of tumor growth and treatment by chemotherapy. The model could make it possible to optimize treatment schedules using computer simulation prior to clinical therapy.
