Abstract
The identity question is one that African immigrants have to contend with in the acculturation into the American society. The confluence of different cultures detracts continuity of the ethnic identity and calls for reconstructions. This fact creates a difficult path for an easy identity construct. This article discusses how they recreate their identity in the new host country and what educators, community leaders, and service providers can contribute to the process.
