Counseling a Client Whose Family Member is Planning a Suicide

Abstract

Planned suicide is a topic that receives much attention in both the popular press and the scholarly literature, and it is not unlikely that family counselors will have clients who ask for assistance as they deal with this topic. In this article, the author provides a case scenario followed by a discussion of pertinent legal and ethical issues.
