Abstract
The mission of The Family Journal encourages scientists and practitioners to explore and express their ways of knowing to advance theory, research, and practice with couples and families from a systemic perspective. Boyer's scholarship of integration, as well as some contemporary commentators on scholarship in higher education, argue that teaching and professional practice are as valid in knowledge building as traditional quantitative research. Therefore, the journal should include additional contributions from qualitative and evaluation researchers, practitioners in the field, and marriage and family counselor educators.
