Inflammatory bowel disease in children and adolescents

Abstract

There is an increasing incidence of paediatric inflammatory bowel disease, and the disease is associated with significant physical and psychosocial morbidity. This article, based upon a fictional clinical case scenario, highlights the role of primary care in the recognition, referral and ongoing holistic care of paediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
