Abstract
The seronegative arthritides are a heterogeneous family of rheumatological conditions that are characterised by joint pain and inflammation but without the presence of autoantibodies such as rheumatoid factor and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide. They feature articular, axial and/or peripheral, and extra-articular manifestations. In this article we will discuss the clinical presentation and management of the seronegative arthritides. We hope to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of these diseases to permit a timely referral to rheumatology, which should equate to improved outcomes for patients in terms of joint damage, pain, fatigue, loss of function and quality of life.
